Bringing our family of four boys (then ages 13, 11, 10 and 3 years) to live in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains in the Sonoran Desert of Tucson, Arizona, after a lifetime in suburban Long Island, New York was one of the wisest and best decisions my husband and I have made in our lives together. For us, coming to the desert was coming home when we were so lost we didn't even know we'd strayed from our hearts' roots! The colors, smells and rhythms of the sky and the land touch a place within us that resonates with organic familiarity and brings joy each and every day.
I strive to follow the original teachings of the Christ, Jesus and have a spiritual connection to Catholicism (although I do not believe in blind, mindless faith and am profoundly disappointed in the political organization of the Roman Catholic Church). My husband has been studying Buddhism for a number of years and many of the Buddha's teachings live in my heart.
I'm coming to this online community because I have a chronic illness which has impacted my ability to attend and participate in a church community in person. I enjoy exploring issues of faith, spirituality and the Divine and hope to be able to interact with other people thus inclined in this space.
