Help me to wait diligently on You

Be of good courage

Strengthen my heart

Help me to be watchful

Of being over devoted

To this world's charms   

That could so easily

Crowd out Your still small voice

I so long to hear each day

There is a longing in my heart

To worship You

And not be overtaken

By the grueling demands

That this world has candy coated 

Making them appear oh so important

Help me not to weaken

To these demands

Urging me to have hurried thoughts

Rather than spend time with you

Prompt my heart to prayer

Penetrate my soul with your love

So it seeps deep within

The cavity my heart

Open my mind to you

With the power of Your Spirit  

To teach me in all your ways

Renew me, strengthen me

Uplift me

Inspire me with Your Spirit

Teach me the truth of your Word

And when time is limited

Entice me to ignore the hustle and bustle

When broader worldly plans

Start to take over and invade

Without delay

Entice me to my knees

Making my life a devotion

An inner working of the heart

A glorification to you

In purity and humility

Help me do my part

By coming to you in prayer

Knowing it is Your grace

That is the salvation

Of my very soul

Without you oh Lord

I cannot accomplish anything

I pray my walk does not falter

And ask You make my paths straight

Help me guard my personal plans

That they will not divert my worship

Away from Your love

Your Word and Prayer
