That's pretty much foundational in New Age teachings that attempt to appeal to Christians or claim compatibility with Christianity. You know how the cults love using our terminology in order to blend in like the wolves in sheep's clothing they are. A common theme in the New Age Movement today is that Jesus is an arch-typal image of every man and every woman. L. Ron Hubbard, who founded Scientology, said it and the New Agers are repeating it today. They also separate Jesus from Christ, yes. Christ is merely a title that any enlightened individual can possess. But the Bible says that Jesus is THE Christ, not A Christ, and when Peter said this, in response to Jesus' question about who the disciples thought He was, Jesus told Peter that only God could have revealed this to him. So what does that tell us? Those who are getting some other idea, it is not coming from God the Father. These folks who are throwing the word around have no idea what it really means to be THE Christ! Talk about needing to be enlightened!
