An interesting video. I believ that the use of the name Allah or Deus (Latin) or Bog (Russian) in an English conversation is really not a great problem. The person who does this is switching language codes only. The deeper meaning of Who God is or what God means will be different from person to person and from religion to religion.
In Arabic speaking countries, Christians, Jews and Muslims do not share the same exact concept of God, but they do all believe in one God. If the intention of the bishop in the Netherlands is to find a commond ground of communication with others on this subject, I think it can be useful. If we use a word to make a polemic statement to instill fear or hatred, then it is best not to use the name of God at all.
the clips you choose to post never fail to provoke thought for me, ITPM...the thought I played with this weekend was that of a New World Culture... taking the best of each culture from all corners of the earth and joining together in the name of our lowest common denominator - humans inhabiting the same universe... to comment directly on the clip - I think adopting a universal name for the Creator of this universe, blessed by His name, should be a decided-upon name that wouldn't give imaginary validation or power to a present group whose name for this universal Higher Power might be selected.
Thanks for sharing.
