I currently live in the Minneapolis Minnesota area. My family has a very long and sorted relationship with the LDS movement. My father's side of the family were converts in Kirtland in the mid 1830's and my Mother's family Joined in the 1860's in the Bay Area.
I think one thing that makes me unique is that I am open about pretty much EVERYTHING and an a mostly-happy functioning member of the LDS Church. I my Dad, my Brother, and my Sister and myself converted to the Church from the RLDS (Community of Christ) my mother has remained a member all her life. I have no qualms about the doctrines of my faith, and lookforward to the healing power of Christ's atonement in the next life to provide me with a wife and children. I work very hard to keep the commandments and do make mistakes, but it is my belief that it is as much our desires to life the doctrine in many respects as it is to live the doctrine.
I am a lover of peace and of the cause the Savior. Who ever came up with the idea that members of various LDS communities and demoninations are NOT Christian need to re-evaluate what it means to be a Christian. I have a personal relationship with the Jesus Christ of the KJV NEW TESTIMENT. With out that relationship I don't want to imagine where I would be. AND NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME! Not Satan, not some smart alec minister, not anyone. Jesus is my brother, my father, and my best friend.
Hey, U! I saw your thread on the LDS forum, Here are my thoughts on forgiveness:
God remembers that we are but dust.
Knowing that we would mess up, He sent His son, Jesus Christ to die for us
BUT He only forgives us for the sins for which we are truly repentant
Our Father loves all His children and wants them to be happy; the way to happiness is to obey Him, for He gives no commandment which is not beneficial for mankind, both personally and collectively.
Remember the story of Alma the Younger? If God could forgive him and Paul (Saul) of the NT, then why not you? Is one sinner any better than the other?
