@Zaabie: It is others who call us heretics. If we attach some positive value to this ourselves, it is because we realize that we have freed ourselves from the dogma, from the strictures on thought and experience, that others would place on us. In Unity, Rev. John

Hi to all. New member here. I'm looking foward to conversations within this group. I have realized that upon signing up,I set my privacy settings too high and I can't seem to find where to edit them. Appeciate any help on this. When I was 15 years old I asked God to show me my purpose. I closed my eyes, Opened my bible, and pointed to His answer. Although I can't recall what book or verse it was, I can still see the words and feel the warmth of them 30 years later. " Make love your greatest quest." It was a childrens bible that my grandmother gave me. She taught me all I knew of Faith, Hope, and Love. She had just passed away the day before. Feeling empty and lost prompted me to pray that day. Little did I know my Spiritual journey started at that moment. I'm interested in hearing about spiritual journeys and how they began.

GOD IS LOVE. HE GIVES US UNMERITED FAVOR AND ALL WE NEED IS FAITH. THE SIZE OF A MUSTARD SEED. I LOVE HIM CAUSE HE FIRST LOVE ME AND HE TEACHES ME HOW TO LOVE...I love God. My question is, can you die for your enemy? While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Could you do that? For God so love the world, he gave us his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life...

Here is something I don't understand: I am coming to realize that many Unitarians like to identify themselves as "heretics" but I thought heretics were people who were going against the doctrine of their own church; who were estranged from a particular tradition, and who were stirring up trouble within their own community. How can Unitarians claim to be heretics if we have broken with any church that might have been telling us things we disagreed with?

Just wanted to say hi...I recently took the quiz and my top selection was Unitarian Universalism. I just would like to know more about the faith that I associate closely with, and meet some people who practice it. Thanks!

I have problems posting to this group even though it's one of "my groups", it doesn't automatically offers the "Post comment" option whenever I want to reply to a thread. Aside from this, I've known "Desiderata" for decades but not that it was written by M.E. as the author is considered 'unknown'. It's highly idealistic, and belongs to my very idealistic past when I was but a mere college student. When I got my first job in the U.S. I'd a copy of it hanging over my desk, needless to say those who entered my office and saw this were highly impressed and this pleased my ego no end. Then one day life hit me in the teeth and I found it not so easy to practice what this piece tells us. I've problems, especially, with this line: "And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." How does the writer know with such certainty the the universe is unfolding as it should? and...are we to be fortified with this belief when something shatters our life or alters its course for the duration? After years of living and experiencing the world, I can safely say that I don't know how the universe is supposed to be unfolding, as I'm not God nor do I claim to know what God is. We can 'strive to be happy' but, ultimately, we learn from our mistakes as only those can add the necessary skin layer, the scar tissue, that allows us to face life and the world until our time here is over.

To get to the discussions (topics) click on the Forum at the bottom left in light blue. Some groups will have a pop-down saying View Forum. Currently this one doesn't. After clicking on Forum the page will go to another page with Discussion Board. Click on Discussion Board and all the threads/posts will be there. Except for those that are missing. Data is still being moved. You can start a new thread/topic from that page and reply to posts/threads. All these new names. ***eyes roll*** If you click on a topic then you can click on Discussion Board to see all the topics. Peace Love Stardove
