Of course all translation is interpretation, and the whole argument between literal and dynamic equivalent proves it. However of those options eventually miss the point, in as much as they confine the relationship with text to the manifest story, and do not deal with the content (meaning) at all. In the final end the only meaningful relationship with the material arises from inner experience, when it finally dawns on us that the stories, whatever they may be are an expression of an inner experience, which can only be understood at that level. Until we get it that the stories are about ourselves, we can squabble over the trivia of translations, but the meaning will continue to escape us. vliscony |

And as for Seth,to him also a son wasborn;and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord. This was taken from the NKJV. Pastor Rich |

Your Bible does not mentiond that Adam new his wife again and Eve SAID "the Lord hath given me a son to replace Abel that Cain murdered" She named that son Seth.Genesis 4;25:,26: After this then Adam had sons and daughters. All the years of Adam were 930.And he died. Fulfilling God's Promise of Death. Can you Find anywhere in Genesis or beyond where EVE his Wife God had Given Him Died? Just asking the Question.. All DIE, It was GOD that gave ADAM a Death Sentance, The Woman She was Cursed with Pain. have you ever Understood the pain of "Mary" Mother of Christ Jesus? Gospel Suzanne |

What ever happened to discernment? I see this as the number one problem with most Christan's and this discernment is a must. We are to rightly divide the word and divide in Greek means to dissect, take apart, how, using bible verse's to compare with what you think you think. The bible is the best commentary of it's kind. Also so few simply do Greek and Hebrew word studies, the Greek and Hebrew with a good interlinear will help you to see many things and truths that many versions of Gods word could not bring out as to translate from Greek or Hebrew to English we miss many great things the Spirit can give us illumination from. One needs not be a scholar, just use a free software called e-sword download it and ALL the ad on's This software has made my writing, sermons, and study of the word, better, faster and all by a click. The main fact so few have discernment is they do not read the word, they take mans word or a denominations doctrine as gospel fact. Never do this. There are many, many false teachings and doctrines out there, and many just believe what they read or hear and do not go to then word for the answer. Let me give just a few examples of why you should use an interlinear bible and the Greek. The word Of Faith camp always quotes from EPH 6 on the whole armor of God and they emphasis. this one verse. And above all taking the shield of FAITH. The Greek reads therefore add unto your Armour the shield of faith, not above all. also a bible cross reference shows the fallacy hear in 1Cor 13, these three abide, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest is LOVE, not faith so we would think a contradiction was placed in the word in the Greek we see faith is not above all, but part of the whole and love is greatest, and yes faith is needed in a big way. Another example from the Greek. I hear preacher say this one almost every day about how God wants us to have a sound mind (and He doe's)but they use this verse to preach on the sound mind. 2tim1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of LOVE and a sound mind. IN The Greek sound mind means self control as some versions rightly have it. so you see what I mean. By getting more serious in bible study and the Greek and Hebrew one will develop the needed discernment in these last days. Remember in Matt 24, Luke 21, Mark 13, Jesus warned many false prophets and Messiahs would come and try to lead you astray, even the elect if passable. I encourage, no I beg you sharpen your sword, it may be dull, but this is the time to pull it from it's sheath. Lyric4u |

How exactly do you know that you're studying "God's" word? Has it never occurred to you that you're worshipping a boogy man created to control others? That you're just taking the word of another human, no better than yourself? What's the best way to make a kid behave? Make him believe that he has eyes on him 24-7. You've been duped. ClaptonIsGod |

you can't always be sure about what man writes but you can be sure that God won't let things into his word that shouldn't be there alot of people are trying to discredit the Bible these days so that there will be less believers We should be trying to make the Bible a good thing and spread the word after all we could be in our last days and when we do get there what are you going to use as an excuse {well there may have been something I didn't get} come on this is a study of his words and lots of things he has done and still can octobreeze |
There is only one sense in which all translation is interpretation, and it is not what dynamic equivalent translators usually mean by their cliché. All translation is lexical or linguistic interpretation. That is, translators must decide what English word or phrase most closely corresponds to a given word of the original text.
