    confusion

    Sunday, July 10, 2011, 10:35 PM [General]

So, I've been reading on the forum and i feel just as confused as ever. Last week I thought i had my path figured out - what/how i would start to practice but now - i'm not really sure.

I know what i'm intrested in, what i want to practice, learn, but i dont know what to call it. There is huge debates between what wicca is - religion vs spirituality. What makes a pratice specifically wiccan? Specially when there are several types of wicca.

I agree with "an it harm none, do what thou will" and i love nature and animals and feel that the divine is in all of nature. But i dont really see myself to lots of rituals to honor to goddess, maybe except to observe the sabbats. Can this alone make me a wiccan? or is its something else all together - do i have to join a coven and study for years under a high priest/ess... can i call myself wiccan at the start of my solitary study/practice or do i have to earn that title?

Or should i just - continue with my own thinng, mix of severeal intrests, and say i'm a pagan and end it there...

any comments, help would be awesome.

    blessed be.

    putting the neo in neopagan

    Sunday, July 10, 2011, 5:24 PM [General]

Hi to anyone that decides to read this...

So i decided to join this site/community thinking that it would help me with the tough decision of what path to take.

with so many articles, vlogs, blogs, spiritual sites and books.. its hard to tell what is write for me. I understand not everyone experience will be the same, that there is no write or wrong way of doing things.

but what makes a pagan? or more specifically, a wiccan/witch. and what is the difference if anyway between a wiccan and witch? do i have to be 100% dedicated to a certain deity and worship/do all these rituals and be initaited to be a witch? or is it okay for me to just read a bunch of books and put things together for myself... can i call myself a witch even now? just starting with meditation/prayer/pendulum use...

whhhyyy are there so many choices :P scents/oils/candles, yoga, chakras, healing, herbology, spellcasting, palmestry... lots of things that i like but dont really know how to start, and some thigns that i cant do while living in a dorm, and some things i would feel silly doing in the middle of a quad where everyone can see me.

From the reading i've done, druidry is not quite for me - though i do love the celtic culture. Nor is joining a coven with their more rigid set of training. I want to be able to do my own things, on my time...

and i believe the divine is in all of nature...nature and animals are beautiful. but i dont believe much in the fey. and i think the only "rituals" i would want to do regularly are the major sabats. and my "spells" would be more in the form of prayer...

its very confusing, having grown up with no religion really, being agnostic for the longest time - but lost, missing something... and i really think wicca is for me but...how can anyone tell for sure??
