About Me
Greetings Beliefnet -
My name is Ray Davis and I am the founder and owner of The Affirmation Spot.com - a website offering a growing array of downloadable mp3 affirmations, meditations, and visualizations in dozens of categories. I have a passion for helping people identify and pursue their dreams. I have been writing, recording, sharing, and using affirmations for more than 15 years.
I my spiritual journey in earnest after a life-threatening illness and near-death experience at 25. My thirst for self-development led me to read the writings of Joseph Campbell, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, and many other luminaries in the fields of mythology and motivation. Over time, I have melded these ideas into my own philosophy on self-development.
While I do strictly adhere to any particular spiritual tradition, I find the most resonance in the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama - The Buddha. I've read many, many books on Buddhism and practiced various forms of meditation.
I am a writer, poet, and thinker focused on issues of personal liberty, global change, positive thinking, and motivation. I previously the editor of The Free Kansan - The Official Newsletter of the Kansas Libertarian Party. I am also an expert author at Ezine Articles.com and an Affirmations and Positive Thinking expert on SelfGrowth.com.
My daily blog called The Affirmation Spot focuses on the previously mentioned topics and others, but always with a positive bent. My blog also regularly features affirmations from the The Affirmation Spot.com.
I hold a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Secondary Education in Social Studies from University of Kansas. I have been writing B2B sales training and performance enhancement tools at Fortune 50 company for the past seven years.
I was a member of BeliefNet way back at the beginning and look forward to getting to know the community anew.
