Hi, I was under the impression that Daoism was a beautiful philosophy, by which one should live their lives. One with nature a balance with heaven and earth. Live in the moment.

Hello There, Welcome! For the future go ahead and post on the board and I will do my best to answer any questions that you may have. Just to get you started, Im not sure what you have read about Taoism and such, but it is a religion, it has rules and beliefs that some follow very stricktly and others loosely. Taoism has many sects and practices but the basics are the same for almost all of them. As for Taoists the groups are usually split into three different categories: Taoists - Taoist, people who are initiated into a specific sect under a specific master (teacher) which are priests of all levels. Jushi - Disciples of Taoists that have not taken the full rights of initiation but are members of sects under the guidance of a teacher or sponsor if you will. They are allowed to practice certain rituals but not have received a full "lu" nor cannot offer ceremony without the guidance of a Taoist. Follower - A believer or better yet a person whom believes in the Taoist Pathenon - the faithful, not any different than a Christian, Muslim or any other belief. They follow and worship through the cannons and rights of Taoism, follows a particular sect but does not belong, sometimes they take on a role that will make them low level members and sometimes initiates with a title of "keeper". Many people are illusioned that Taoism is a hippy sect that anything and everything is allowed which is not the truth. It is a true well rounded religion that can guide and help you with your journey on earth as well the after life. Thank you for your interest

Hello! I recently read Tao Te Ching translation in Latvian and really like it. It describes way of life more better than other religious texts and suits me. I looking forward to Taoism as good life philosophy.

Hello. I joined this group because I am learning about Taoism and think that its spiritual focuses and teachings on health and longevity may be what I have been looking for, at least in part.

Are there any taoists who are interested in sharing their practice of taoism or their understanding of the way with an author? If so, email me: shoppingforgod@gmail.com .

Desert Girl, Ahhh, Im very sorry you feel this way. I dont care how people choose to believe, heck, believe in a rock, thorn or a pair of jeans it is all the same to me. I think you may need to re-read my community - it is Taoism not the Tao. Toaism is a specific belief that is institutionalized and propagated for over 3000 years. I am here to help share of what I know and understand. Most Taoists and believers alike will not get into discussion of the Tao, it is much like politics, no one will completely agree because it cannot be explained, Mostly delusion and illusion contrives the ideals that what the Tao should be and is. May peace be with you and I hope you find what you are looking for

Alwaystao3, you're right about the Tao of Pooh etc and you're welcome to join my group if you want a place where you won't be insulted for discussing the Way. :)

Alwaystao3, thank you for your contribution and lending a hand of what you understand of the Tao and its manifestations. I was wondering, 22 years is a long time, under what lineage to you study from and do you have a teacher to help you along with the tradition you belong to? Lets keep this clean on this page, I do not mind ramblings of sorts and such, but please to not spread the word of "tao of pooh" to be Taoism or anything remotely to it. In actuality the Tao te ching is not a book to learn to lie by. Many may think that through really shoddy translations and not understanding the context behind the words as well only being translators of Po Tung wah, nor people particularly interested outside of there own wants and desires. The Tao te Ching or better known in Taoism "The book of Laozi" is a fine meditation manual as well full of traditional scripture. In the book itself there are over 100 secret characters that cannot be translated without a master to guide you, these characters are only known in inside circles and when a translator comes across them he/she will leave them out or just make up something that they think will come next - sort of an ad lib if you will. So please, when it comes to the tao te pooh, please leave this off of my board, if anything its insulting and is polluting the true nature of Taoism and the culture that surrounds the belief - thank you
