Indeed, because we have all sinned, and the wages of sin is death, this earthly mortal body will not last forever. In this passage Absalom had slain his brother who had forced himself on his sister and had fled. David mourned the loss of his son that was slain, then later mourned the absence of his son that had fled. Joab, David’s general schemed with a woman to illustrate to David that he should send for his son, Absalom that had fled away. Below she reasons with David about finding a means to restore Absalom.
2nd Samuel 14:14 For (in dying,) we must needs die, and are as water spilt (poured) on the ground (earth), which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect (because Elohim taketh not away) any person (a soul): yet doth he devise means (fabricate fabrications), that his banished (expelled) be not expelled from him. (ERRB)
Death overtakes the lowly and the mighty, yet the Lord has devised a way (the Way, Truth, and Life) that we might be restored to Him.
Romans 5:8 But God (Elohim) commendeth his love toward (unto) us, in that, while we were (being) yet sinners, Christ (Messiah) died for us. 9 Much more then, being now (having been) justified by (in) his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were (being) enemies, we were reconciled to God (Elohim) by (through) the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by (in) his life. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift (charisma) of God (Elohim) is eternal life through Jesus Christ (in Yah Shua Messiah) our Lord (Adonay). (ERRB)
This earthly body is subject to sin, and not adequate for eternal life in Heaven. Those who die without Christ are condemned and will not gain the gift of God in Heaven. Those who truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be given a new body.
1st Corinthians 15:42 So (Thus) also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown (spored) in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown (spored) in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown (spored) in weakness (frailty) ; it is raised in power (dynamis): 44 It is sown (spored) a natural (soulical) body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural (soulical) body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so (thus) it is written (scribed), The first man (human) Adam was made (became into) a living soul; the last (final) Adam was made a quickening (into an enlivening) spirit. 46 Howbeit (Rather) that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural (soulical); and afterward (then) that which is spiritual. 47 The first man (human) is of the earth, earthy (dust); the second man (human) is the Lord (Adonay) from heaven (the heavens). 48 (Such) As is the earthy (dust), such are they also that are earthy (dust): and (such) as is the heavenly (heavenlies), such are they also that are heavenly (heavenlies). 49 And (exactly) as we have borne the image (icon) of the earthy (dust), we shall also bear the image (icon) of the heavenly (heavenlies) . 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom (sovereigndom) of God (Elohim); neither doth corruption (corruptibility) inherit incorruption (incorruptibility).
51 Behold, I shew (word) you a mystery; (Indeed), We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling (atom) of an eye, at (in) the last trump (final trumpet): for the trumpet (indeed it) shall sound (trump), and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption (endue incorruptibility), and this mortal must put on immortality (endue athanasia). 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption (endued incorruptibility), and this mortal shall have put on immortality (endued athanasia) , then shall be brought to pass the saying (word) that is written (scribed), Death is swallowed up in victory (triumph). 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave (hades), where is thy victory (triumph)? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength (dynamis) of sin is the law (torah). 57 But thanks (charism) be to God (Elohim), which giveth us the victory (triumph) through our Lord Jesus Christ (Adonay Yah Shua Messiah). 1st Peter 1:3 Blessed (Eulogized) be the God (Elohim) and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Adonay Yah Shua Messiah), which according to his abundant (vast) mercy hath begotten (rebirthed) us again unto a lively (living) hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Yah Shua Messiah) from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled (unpolluted), and that fadeth not away – (amaranthine), reserved in heaven for (guarded in the heavens unto) you, (ERRB)
1st John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons (children) of God (Elohim), and it doth (be) not yet appear (manifest) what we shall be; but we know that, when (whenever) he shall appear (be manifest), we shall be like him; for (because) we shall see him (exactly) as he is. (ERRB)
Though many sermons have been preached, just on the Corinthians passage above, on a variety of topics, the overall message of the Old and New Testaments are unified. These earthly bodies have been condemned, but our eternal spirits may be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ our Savior. Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart?
