    'An Honest Politician'

    Thursday, July 26, 2012, 4:26 PM [General]

Why is the expression ‘an honest politician’ considered to be an oxymoron?  I believe that most people would say that there is no such thing as an ‘honest’ politician, especially during a campaign.  If both Democrats and Republicans are not considered ‘honest’, then does that make them ‘liars’?  Well, sociologists can pull out their continuum scales and start saying ‘by comparison’ and the whole issue can become very muddled.  What did Pilate ask?  “What is truth?”  Jesus had said that Satan is the father of lies.  I believe that one general teaching in Scripture (though I can’t readily cite a specific reference) is that there is no man who can claim to be totally, 100%, purely, perfectly honest.  Then what is perfection if not purity; and what is purity if not 100%; and what is 100% if not totality?

If it were determined that Democrats and Republicans are liars, then would that make them children of the father of lies?  If they have the same father, then why do they fight so much?  Why do siblings fight?  I understand that Satan loves to see people fighting.  Jesus said that a house divided against itself would not stand, but even Satan knows that ultimately his kingdom will fall (it’s already been conquered, but it’s in its death throes now, and fighting furiously).  Satan doesn’t really care if the Democrats or the Republicans win.  But if Satan is already toying with the Democrats and Republicans, and Satan wants to fully rule the US, then wouldn’t it be in his best interest to bring the Democrats and Republicans together?  Oh- I assure you that he will, but it’s not quite time yet.  But the time is very close.

Consider how fragile and unstable the US and European economies are.  Consider the forecasts on future food crop harvests by the climatologists (who recently have acknowledged global warming as being a man-made phenomena).  Consider additional calamities that are not difficult to imagine with our present weather patterns.  I don’t care whether you elect Democrat or Republican, Satan is just waiting for the US and Europe to meet in a G-4 Summit (or they may call it something else) and frantically decide that the only salvation for us is a one world government.  Satan is expecting all these in-fightings within the nations to bring them crumbling in terror to their knees to him.  (Did I mention- Christians should start seriously praying to our Creator for strengthened faith in Him, because He is the only real hope.)

There are pastors who are sounding a warning for people who don’t know the Lord to come to Him, and for those who know the Lord to ‘buck-up’ their faith.  There are also a lot of jack-asses who are too busy spouting platitudes to placate the people making out their pay-checks to find time to preach Jesus to the lost and teach the Scriptures to those seeking God’s Word.

(Did I mention- I’m just ‘thinking out loud’?  I doubt more than a very few people ever give my posts a notice, but I try to remind people that my opinions are my own, and don’t believe what I say because I say it.  Each person should do for themselves as Pilate and ask, “What is truth?”)
