A Releasing Meditation

    Friday, August 22, 2008, 10:16 PM [General]

This is the latest in a string of spontaneous inspirations I've received right before falling asleep. During meditation, I found myself on the shore of a large body of water. This place is a recurrent theme in my dreams, a very peaceful, loving, spiritual place. I'm new to the process of meditation but I hope this helps you as it has helped me. It goes a little like this:

Visualize yourself sitting on the shore or pier of a lake or ocean. Beside you is a pile of bricks. Each one is a negative feeling, experience, anxiety or stress accumulated during your day or week. They represent fear, worry, anxiety, resentment, anger, unforgiveness, anything weighing you down. You may or may not see those words written on them. On your other side is a bunch of balloons tethered together. Surround yourself with a field of healing light. As you imagine yourself releasing these "bricks" of negativity, exhale deeply...and watch them float into the water and disappear. Let go of the bothersome thoughts as they disappear, and focus your thought direction on the loving light surrounding you. Continue this releasing process until you feel at peace.

The healing waters of Spirit absorb all your worries and negative thoughts. It's similar to placing your burdens on God, giving them up to be blessed by the Universal force. Sometimes we have to release and let go, in order to really HEAR God speaking.

    My Mantra for Peace

    Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 10:14 PM [General]

I was dozing off to sleep one night when this phrase just popped in my mind, completely out of the blue. I found it calming and said it in my mind a few times before falling asleep:

"Drinking from the Fountain of Peace, my soul is safe in the hands of God."

Simple and short. I know I never heard it anywhere; it was one of those spontaneous inspiration moments. I think it's a reminder to us that no matter what we might be dealing with in our outer circumstances (illness, financial loss, other disasters) our essence or spirit is in God's hands. Things come and go; jobs, friends, good and bad times, good and bad health. But our immortal essence is eternal and always connected to the One Source. Of course, dealing with adverse circumstances and loss can be exceptionally painful, but it's important to keep this perspective when riding out the storm so we don't get so wrapped up and overwhelmed by things.

Hope this helps someone reading this. :)

    Put Your Life in Perspective

    Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 8:20 PM [General]

I came across this on the web and think it's great:

    Global Village Statistics

If we could reduce the population of the Earth to only 100 individuals while keeping the existing proportion of distribution of all the existing nations this would be the breakdown:

57 people would be from Asia, 21 from Europe, 14 from Americas (North, Central, and South), 8 from Africa. 52 people would be male, 46 female, 30 would be white, 70 would be of other races, 30 would be Christian, 70 of other religions, 79 heterosexuals, 21 homosexuals. 6% of people would own 59% of the riches of the entire world and all 6 would be from the United States. 80 people would live in unsanitary conditions, 40 would be illiterate, 50 would be hungry, 1 would be dying, 1 would be born. 2 would own a computer, and 1, only 1, would be highly educated.

When you look at the world from this perspective, the need for ACCEPTANCE, FORGIVENESS, and UNDERSTANDING is more that obvious.

Try to keep in mind the following:

if you have woken up this morning feeling healthy, you are luckier than 500 000 million people that will not wake up the next morning* if you have never experienced the fear of war, loneliness, incarceration, the agony of torture, hunger, you are in a better position than 500 million people in the world* if you can enter a church freely, without threats, or the fear of getting arrested or discriminated against, you are luckier than 3 billion people on the planet* if you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your body, roof over your head, a place to sleep in, you are richer than 75% of inhabitants of this planet* if you have money in the bank, your wallet, or change somewhere in some box, you are among 8% of well-to-do people* if you have parents, and are still married, you belong in a rare group of people* if you can read this text, you are not among 2 billion people who cannot read*

Somebody said once: work as if you do not need money, love as if you have never suffered, dance as if nobody is watching you and sing as if nobody is listening.

Live as if Heaven is on Earth. And when you read this know that somebody is thinking of you and that you are not alone.
