hi, i just joined this group and appreciate that you are all here to help each other. i have been off hard drugs for eight months but am having a hard time letting go of the alcohol as a crutch when i am mad, sad or lonely. i did a geographic cure and moved accross the country to get away from drugs and it worked, i have no desire to use again but i am using anyway with the alcohol. is it a weaning off process or have i simply changed one addiction for another? i can stop i just can't stay stopped. my neighbors drink and first thing i know i've got a beer in my hand. i am also trying to quit smoking and lose weight so i think i am trying too hard to do too much at one time and keep failing which fuels the process of binge drinking out of guilt. any suggestions?
