Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett is public radio's conversation about religion, meaning, ethics, and ideas. Each week, Tippett probes the myriad ways in which religious impulses inform every aspect of life and culture, nationally and globally. SOF fills an important and neglected need in American media by addressing the intellectual and spiritual content of religion head-on, illuminating the ideas and practices that form the headlines from the inside.

Thank you for your inspiring post. Besides being factually true, it has all the elements of a good story--Paradise Lost, paradise fought for, some bit of paradise regained. There used to be a slogan: I've seen God, and She's Black! I think God/Goddess/Nature/Evolution is a light, and religions are lanterns--a Japanese stone lantern, an ornately wrought Moroccan lantern, a red glass votive candle holder, a microscope or telescope or laser--culturally specific ways of containing the Light so we can see it. All are true, but each medium shapes the light differently, according to our needs. Wangari Maathai's ability to put her two images of God side by side just multiplies the light she creates. Peace, love. Terrific |

Speak of the Faith and keep on keeping the Faith, Krista!:) have a great day! david
