Hi, I joined belief.net recently, but have been a guest on the site for about a year now. Faith-wise I am "Christian-occultist" (for a detialed explanation of what that means please see my description of my faith elsewhere in this profile), basically, I am a non-denominational, progressive-minded Christian who believes in and works with magickal and occult forces and techniques, and also, in my particular case, the pagan deities (again see faith description for my reasoning on why this doesn't at all conflict with scripture).
That said you can often more likely find me on the Pagan forums, as they're by far more respecting of my faith choices, and I don't mind weighing in on a Chrisitian topic or two, but usually it'll only be if I think I won't get flack and brough-beating because of my personal interpretation.
I'm currently a Philosophy major with a religious studies and history double minor at UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County) where until last year I headed the Pagan Student Union (which is open to those of all magickal/occult faiths who are current students and also some alumnus). We've been working a lot with the Orthodox Christian Fellowship here too, and things have been going beautifully.
My spiritual interests are listed under the proper profile interest section but mainly magickal working and theory of various kinds but as per my Christianity, I was raised Lutheran so I still saw fit to keep a lot of the proper theology from Luther's interpretation, as there is some good stuff there (despite the fact he went rage-happy and anti-everyone in his later years--at least in writing anyway) but Eastern Orthodoxy has also been a big influence in my thought, as I believe it better informs and completes much of Luther's theology, though in general, I consider myself non-denominational because I'm mainly for interpreting the text itself, and the best, most accurate translations thereof. As per the working I do with the pagan deities, I'm closest to (not necessarily in this order) Hades, Nemesis, shekmet, Bast, and also a little with the Greenman and Pele (the latter I'm just begining to work with though, but I have a past life connection to her which is getting stronger).
Have we met? I'm just wondering what compelled you to add me as a friend...
