    I Have A Dream

    Friday, February 17, 2012, 1:41 PM [General]

I went to Parent teacher Conferences for my twins yesterday afternoon, they are 11 and in the 6th Grade. I was so moved by this writing of my son, on the wall outside his classroom. Each of the children had to write their own dream speech, patterned after the  dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. I saw his words from his heart, and my heart completely understood all he wrote.

    Here is what he wrote:

    I Have A Dream

I have a dream that one day our armed forces will stop murdering innocent people. We keep saying we are doing it in self defense. We keep saying we are doing it because of 9/11. That was just under 11 years ago. We need to let that go. What we are doing to them is no better than what they did to us. That is one thing that us and our enemies have in common, killing thousands of innocent people. I'm tired of people saying that their brothers, uncles, dads are in foreign countries protecting us when really they are- for no reason-killing thousands of innocent people. I know people say that it's war, but really we are just the leaders of a very huge massacre. I have this dream to end this nonsense and to start a new era of peace.

We can transform the world, if we live our lives as a child, through the eyes of a child, with the heart of a child, believing all dreams are possible and letting Jesus lead us and guide us in His way to achieve those dreams He places in our hearts.

His way, love your enemies, for God made the Sun rise on and the rain come down on them, too. He loves them, too.

His way, I give you a new command, love one another as I have loved you.

Jesus, the truth, the life, and the way.

And so I pray, Lord, God, show us your way, us, your creations, your children, let us take the power of the Holy Spirit living in us, take it with boldness and without fear, and transform our world, with Jesus living in us, nothing is impossible.

And to God be all the Glory! We are nothing without Him.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen

    Sherri

    Every Moment In Time

    Friday, October 16, 2009, 8:25 PM [General]

I am trying to record lyrics of my songs here on my journal.

This is Every Moment In Tme

     Every Moment In Time

     Verse 1

Every moment in time, there are choices to make
Do we follow the world or do we follow Christ?
When we wake up in the morning, do we think of God with our first breath
Do we thank God for the gift of life and the gift of his Son?
Do we think about the wonders of God's great love for us?
How he created this world and everyone in it, every man, woman, and child
With his own hands, he molded each one of us, into his own special creations
And he breathed life into each one of us
Do we think about the wonders of God's graet love for us?
How he sent into this world, his only Son
To die on the cross to save us from our sins
Do we think about Jesus, how he tells us to love God and love one another?
To seek to love God and others, the same way God loves us
Do we love one another the way Jesus asks us to do?

    Chorus

I lift up my hands to the skies
    To worship you, my God
    My father, my creator
I sing praises to you, my God
    My Abba, my maker
I cry out my innermost yearnings and prayers
    To you, my God
    My Lord, my Savior
I love you my God, I am nothing with out you
You are my refuge and my strength
When I'm down, and my heart is breaking
And my tears flow into the night
I cry out to you, and you're always there
And you, reach down and you pick me up off the ground
You show me comfort and love
And with the morning light, you turn my pain into joy
You give me hope in hopeless situations
You give me impossible dreams to dream
And then you make them come true
How great are you, my God
How great are you, my God

    Verse 2

Every moment in time, there are choices to make
Do we live for self or do we live for Christ?

Do we start our day spending time in God's Word
Jesus says, love God with all of our hearts
With all of our minds, and with all of our souls
Jesus says, love our neighbors as ourselves
Do we pray for God to show us how to love in that way?
When we greet our neighbors, do we smile or do we frown?
When our lives are falling apart and our Hearts are breaking
Do we turn to God, for comfort and love and strength to carry on?
Do we turn to one another  for a shoulder to lean on
And help when we need it?
Do we share with one another our struggles and praises?
When we feel unkind thoughts for others, do we pray for God to forgive us?
And do we pray for those we felt unkind feelings for?
When others are hurting, do we feel compassion?
Do our hearts break when we see others in pain?
And do we reach out to help those who are hurting
    However we can?
Do we love one another, the way Jesus asks us to do?

    Chorus

I lift up my hands to the skies
    To worship you, my God
    My Father, my Creator
I sing praises to you, my God

     My Abba, my maker
I cry out my innermost yearnings and prayers
    To you, my God
    My Lord, my Savior
I love you my God, I am nothing with out you
You are my refuge and my strength
When I'm down, and my heart is breaking
And my tears flow into the night
I cry out to you, and you're always there
And you, reach down and you pick me up off the ground
You show me comfort and love
And with the morning light, you turn my pain into joy
You give me hope in hopeless situations
You give me impossible dreams to dream
And then you make them come true
How great are you, my God
How great are you, my God

     Verse 3

Every moment in time, there are choices to make
Do we seek to please man or do we seek to please Christ?
Do we spend time every day seeking God's will for our lives?
Do we follow where Christ leads us,
Even when that requires us to step out of our comfort zones?
Do we look around us at the state of our world
Man hurting and killing each other
In ever increasing and violent ways
    Children suffering and dying,
From lack of food and other basic needs
    As we sit and watch
We hate those we see as different  from ourselves
We start wars and kill each other's children
Do we see the truth of what our world has become?
Then, do we think about Jesus and the power of prayer
Jesus says,  ask and we will receive
Seek and we will find, knock and the door will be opened
Jesus says, with faith we can say to this mountain
Be thrown into the sea, and it will be done
So when we gaze upon our world
And we see the sinners and monsters we've become
And we see how unworthy we all are
Let us get down on our knees and cry out to God
Let us lift up everyone in this world in prayer
And pray, God forgive us, turn us from evil
Convict us of our sins, and let us seek your face
Do we love one another, the way Jesus asks us to do?

     Chorus

I lift up my hands to the skies
    To worship you, my God
    My father, my creator
I sing praises to you, my God
    My Abba, my maker
I cry out my innermost yearnings and prayers
    To you, my God
    My Lord, my Savior
I love you my God, I am nothing with out you
You are my refuge and my strength
When I'm down, and my heart is breaking
And my tears flow into the night
I cry out to you, and you're always there
And you, reach down and you pick me up off the ground
You show me comfort and love
And with the morning light, you turn my pain into joy
You give me hope in hopeless situations
You give me impossible dreams to dream
And then you make them come true
How great are you, my God
How great are you, my God

     Verse 4

Every moment in time, there are choices to make

Do we choose to love or do we choose to hate?

Before we go to sleep every night, do we say a good night prayer?

    Like those from our childhood

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep

If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take

Then, do we pray for God to bless those we hold most dear

And in our daily walk with Christ, do we look upon this lost and dying world?

So much hurting, injustice, and so many breaking hearts

So many people, seeking to find meaning in their lives

And so many people, who just feel alone and unloved

Do we see in each and every hurting face, our precious Jesus?

Jesus says, as we do unto the least, we do unto Him Jesus says, go into this world and share the good news

Do we have a special place in our hearts, for those who are hurting and lost?

Let us pray, for God to give us a passion, for those who are hurting and those who are lost

Do we love one another, the way Jesus asks us to do?

    html_removedhtml_removedhtml_removedChorus

I lift up my hands to the skies
    To worship you, my God

    To you, my God

     Ending

Every moment in time, there are choices to make
None of us know how many moments we have left in our lives
But there is one think we all can do
We can seek to make a difference with our lives
And we can seek to live every moment for Christ

    A Song Of Hope

    Monday, August 31, 2009, 4:17 AM [General]

I wrote this song, I think it was the end of 2007. I prayed for words for a song that was not filled with sadness, like the last song was, a Song Of Peace, the song whose words came to me as I awoke from sleep, from my dreams. And God gave me the words and the melody to sing them with, almost right away He answered my Prayers.

You Are My God, You Are My Everything

    Verse 1

Peace, like a river flowing through a valley

    Standing on a mountain top

Watching the Sun turn darkness into light

    Walking on the beach

Barefoot, feeling the sand beneath my feet

Hearing the crash of the waves against the shore

Playing in the rain in the summertime

Feeling the power of the wind before a storm

    Chorus

    I'm so alive

    And such memories

    Come into my mind

Such beauty you have shown me

Such places you've taken me, my God

    You are my everything

The beginning, the end, and all that's in between

I wake up in the morning

With the gift of a song

    On my lips

And I rush to write it all down

And I will sing your praises for the rest of the day

I will sing your praises every day of my life

I will sing your praises forever and ever

You are my God, you are my God

    Verse 2

Peace, like a river flowing through a valley

    Standing on a cliff

    Overlooking the ocean

Knowing with faith, I can push this mountain into the sea

    Driving through the countryside

Rolling hills, blue skies, bales of hay everywhere

Baby horses stand beside  their mothers

Night time, gazing up into a star filled sky

Watching a rainbow form after a summer's rain

    Repeat Chorus

    Verse 3

Peace, like a river flowing through a valley

    14000 feet high

    In the Colorado Rockies

Looking down from the top of the world

Onto such beauty, such grandeur, such majesty

    God's presence so intense

    Immersing me, consuming me

And I know no dreams are too big for my God

There are no troubles I can't handle

    With God by my side

    All dreams are achievable

    Nothing is impossible

    Repeat Chorus

    Ending

Peace, like a river flowing through a valley

    Carrying me through this world

    Carrying me home

I Go To My Father's House

I Go To My Father's House

    Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 6:26 PM [General]

Day 2 2/26/08, (edited 3/27/08) It is a beautiful day, although it is turning cold again. I find myself feeling burdens of the world do not seem as heavy. And I know there can be joy and love and faith and hope to be found in all circumstances we find ourselves in. And we can share that with one another. And I have a new song, which is actually a verse of my last song which I have felt needs to be a song in and of itself. It is all because of the words of Jesus in that song. They have a life of their own. Every time I sing them, the words take me to new places and reveal new truths to me. So, the words of Jesus in verse 3 of the last song become the chorus of the new song. How strange this is, these very words I initially wondered if they even fit in the verse of the song In The Palm Of God's Hands. It seemed a paradox, wanting to tell the lost about Jesus, having a passion for those hurting, and wanting passionately to be with Jesus now. How could the two passions fit together? I do not understand this fully, but I know the places that Jesus words take me in this song are so uplifting, no words can describe this fully. And I realize, on further thought, it is not just about wanting Jesus to come now. It is going to the foot of that cross, where Jesus died for me and all of us sinners in this world, people alive then and in the future who would come to know him and believe in him. It is about going to the foot of that cross and standing there and seeing what Jesus did for me, his sacrifice and his love for me and every person in this world. In comparison to what Jesus did, my instant pain and troubles in my life are meaningless, are insignificant, no matter what those burdens are. They fade away, in comparison to the sacrifice Jesus made for us and his love for me and all of us. And my pain turns to joy, in the face of those truths. I Go To My Father's House (This is definitely the title of the song).

I Go To My Father's House

    Verse 1

    Jesus, My Jesus

    You live in my heart

You lead and guide me each and every day of my life

You are the one who I was born to seek, and find, and to know

The only one who could have filled the emptiness I felt inside

    Chorus

And when I feel burdened by the cares of this world

I find myself at the foot of that cross

    Where you died for me

And I think about the words you spoke, Lord

Before you left this world, you said

I go to my father's house

    Where there are many rooms

I go to prepare a place for you

And I will return for you

    With these promises, Jesus

    My pain turns to joy

And I long for that day

    Come soon, Lord

    Come soon

    Verse 2

    Jesus, My Jesus

You are the one who shows me that I am never alone

That I have nothing to fear

And that I am always loved

You are all I need, Jesus

    Chorus

And when I feel burdened by the cares of this world

I find myself at the foot of that cross

    Where you died for me

And I think about the words you spoke, Lord

Before you left this world, you said

I go to my father's house

    Where there are many rooms

I go to prepare a place for you

And I will return for you

    With these promises, Jesus

    My pain turns to joy

And I long for that day

    Come soon, Lord

    Come soon

    Verse 3

    Jesus, my Jesus

You have a plan for my life

All you ask is that I turn to you, Lord

    Believe in you, Jesus

    And walk with you

    Each and every day

I give my life to you, anew

    Chorus

And when I feel burdened by the cares of this world

I find myself at the foot of that cross

    Where you died for me

And I think about the words you spoke, Lord

Before you left this world, you said

I go to my father's house

    Where there are many rooms

I go to prepare a place for you

And I will return for you

    With these promises, Jesus

    My pain turns to joy

And I long for that day

    Come soon, Lord

    Come soon

    Verse 4

    Jesus, my Jesus

You are more precious than silver and gold

You are the light that shines in a world filled with darkness

You are the one who brought grace and truth into this world

    Chorus

And when I feel burdened by the cares of this world

I find myself at the foot of that cross

    Where you died for me

And I think about the words you spoke, Lord

Before you left this world, you said

I go to my father's house

    Where there are many rooms

I go to prepare a place for you

And I will return for you

    With these promises, Jesus

    My pain turns to joy

And I long for that day

    Come soon, Lord

    Come soon

    Jesus, my Jesus

    Come soon, Lord

    Come soon

    Day 1 January 18

    Saturday, January 19, 2008, 6:03 AM [General]

His book begins, "I am neither Arab nor Jew. By culture and creed, I should suffer neither pain nor passion over the causes and battles that entangle the two peoples. And yet as I stand outside, looking in at the exchange of wound for wound, I cannot help caring. " These are the words of David K. Shipler, Arab And Jew Wounded Spirits In A Promised Land. But they could have been my words. And they completely describe my feelings, my emotions.
