I got an email today and think this is a wonderful idea posted by the Mods @ Madison (WI) freecycle:
"Consumers and Small Businesses:Join us for the 3rd Annual Shred Fest

Available one day only!
Date: Saturday, November 12, 2011
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Access Information Management Building
3700 Commerce Drive, Middleton
(Exit at Mineral Point Road. Turn left.)
Shred Fest is brought to you by Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Access Information Management
Chance to give back: Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. Collection bins will be available at the Shred Fest."
If I didn't have my own shredder, I'd definitely do this! Hope others take advantage of this great idea!!!
