About Me:
I am a writer, author and teacher, as well as community volunteer.
With my sister, I co-founded The SisterProject.com, an online site about all things in the sisterhood.
I have taught a sold-out class called “Writing What You Know” since 1998. My most recent book, "Writing What You Know: Realia," was inspired by the more than 600 graduates of that class, as well as by the countless memoir workshops I have taught.
Under the name Marion Roach, I am the author of "The Roots of Desire: The Myth, Meaning and Sexual Power of Red Hair," published by Bloomsbury in 2005, paperback 2006; the co-author with famed forensic pathologist Michael Baden, M.D., of "Dead Reckoning," published by Simon and Schuster in September, 2001; paperback, 2002, and of "Another Name for Madness," published by Houghton Mifflin in 1985; Pocket Books, 1986. A former staff member of The New York Times, I have written for The New York Times Magazine, Prevention, The Daily News, Vogue, Newsday, Good Housekeeping, Martha Stewart Living, Discover and The Los Angeles Times. A commentator on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, I have both a daily and a weekly radio spot on Martha Stewart Living Radio, Sirius 112/XM 157.
I serve on the board of trustees of St. Lawrence University and am the president of the board of the New York State Council for the Humanities.
I am married and am a mother.
Hello Marion -
I'm so delighted to be among the lucky book winners. Been trying to send you a message with my mailing address but the messaging doesn't seem to be working. Do you have an alternate e-mail address at which we can reach you?
