Shallow displays of Nationalism. My father served in WWII. Many of his friends never came back. I spent my time is Southeast Asia. Lost many friends there too. The young men and women today fight in other areas of this world -- in countries few had heard of before the wars. Many have served, many do not come home, and many carry the scares that will be with them all their life.
To see this country and its military disrespected is not something I wish to do.
This is still the greatest nation in the world today. It is one of the few places where people can say what they wish. People come here every day -- some legally and some not -- to participate in this freedom and the American dream.
If you live here you have benefited by the sacrifice of many for except for two incidents there has been no one who dared to attack the American homeland or American soil.
The way we are going -- we will see fighting in our streets and a major war on American soil. This is not something I wish my children and grandchildren to see.
Now if this is shallow nationalism -- then the sacrifices of our military and the good citizens of this country is for nought. Still we are one nation under God with justice and liberty for all. We are a place of refuge for the human family in this world.
Yes, maybe this is shallow nationalism but I will live and die as an American.
