Most of what we now have as scriptures were originally shared by people that were considered illiterate. They could not read or write but they knew that the true scriptures are written with the heart of each man and woman.
They taught us to love and to share. They taught us compassion and justice. They taught each person to strive to do what is good and to lead a righteous life. Some call this the middle way, some call it the pathway of love. Some just call it being true to one's self.
Those we may consider illiterate live what they truly believe. They talk from the heart and do what is good. Maybe it is time we followed the example they set by being true to our heart in our actions and deeds.
Sometimes reading and writing get in the way. We let others tell us what is true and how we should live our life. We forget to follow the heart. We forget our true good. We stop thinking for ourselves and doing what we know is right. But then -- to know how to read and write is good.
