I have a tattoo on my ankle that symbolizes Epictetus' quote, "First
say to yourself what you will be; and then do what you have to do."
Some people call me quirky. I call myself creative. Excruciatingly
curious. Calmly passionate. Weird. Sorta geeky. Compassionate. Totally
random. Spontaneous. Brave. Sensitive. Perceptive. Sarcastic.
Left-handed.
Sometimes I contradict myself. I never contradict myself. I admit when
I believe I'm wrong, but good luck convincing me of that. I never
regret; I learn.
I embrace my eccentricity. I seem to challenge people's first
impressions of me and negate the "what you see is what you get" adage.
I'm currently obtaining my bachelor's degree in Psychology. After
graduation, I intend to either move back to Boulder, Colorado (which I
miss immensely) to pursue a master's degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology at Naropa University, or
attend one of the graduate schools in San Francisco that offer a
transpersonal psychology degree. What I'm most interested in is studying a discipline that combines traditional Western psychology with Eastern philosophies, such as Buddhism. I'm just beginning to learn the differences between each school of thought within the Buddhist philosophy. Balance, goodness and harmony is the ultimate goal for us ever to be happy with ourselves and for the Universe to be happy with us.
I absolutely LOVE animals, especially dolphins. My childhood dream was to someday work with dolphins. I was blessed to
go on a dolphin research trip this summer in the Bahamas and swim with
wild dolphins. I can only hope that I will be able to do that again.
