About Me
I am a 41 year old, Aquarian male, currently residing in San Diego, CA. I was an atheist for the longest time, but in October of 2006 I had a religious experience/awakening where God revealed itself to me...(I was literally filled with the presence of God/Enlightened by God.) I am a member of the Unitarian Universalist church now, since I believe all religions are "correct". I was actually baptized in the LDS (Mormon) church because I found the Mormons to be very loving and other-centered people, but found the religion to be a little strict for me, overall. I am at heart probably closer to Buddhism than anything else, but since I love and take from all religions, including the LDS church and Christianity as well, I found the UU church to be the best fit for me, since one can have an eclectic approach to one's spirituality there, or lack of a belief as well. I still completely understand and respect atheism and agnosticism as completely viable and healthy belief systems. I find the earth-centered belief systems to be interesting as well, but do not have much knowledge of them other than a basic understanding of general Paganism and some understanding of Wicca. I am extremely open-minded, and believe I am guided by the spirit of God itself rather than humankinds words, thoughts, and/or scriputres; however, I do read and have read several of the main scriptures of most of the major world religions and have received much spiritual enlightenment from all of them. I have had a severe problem with alcoholism/drug addiction, as well as mental health issues, and so I find AA/NA and other 12 step groups to be a great spiritual path for me, as well as attending the UU church. I dislike closed-minded people and views, although it's the views/belief systems that I dislike and not the person; however, I respect everyone's right to their own views....I just do not like to argue about beliefs, especially religious ones, too much. A good, healthy, non-emotional debate is always welcome, just not a tirade of emotion and anger. I do not hate anyone, as I have experienced too much pain and suffering, both mine and others, in this existence to have any hate in me anymore. I guess ultimately I believe that this existence is a "training" or "teaching" experience for us to reach enlightenment...whatever that is and whenever that happens (perhaps this is not the last step?) I believe that while we have "right" and "wrong" moral codes here on our planet, which are very necessary, ultimately, I believe that on a spiritual level there is no "wrong" or "right"...everything just is (I told you I was more Buddhist than anything else!) I do believe that Jesus and other individuals were spiritually enlightened, and that Jesus died to give us an example of the love and sacrifice of God...also to show us how to live.
