About Me
I'm a 33 year old man, dude, bloke, misfit or
whatever else you choose. I am married to my great and wonderful wife
Leah. We just hit our fourth year anniversary, although we've been
together for eight years total. The nature of relationships is
basically, you have to work at them, they just don't work themselves
out. We have a great relationship. Although we are very different we
are very much the same person at heart and constantly support each
other in our endeavors. I have two great kids, Xena (11 years old) and
Alex (3 years old) and a third on the way (due in March 2008). I never
thought I would have kids, but having them now I could never imagine
not having them. Both of them bring a happiness to my life that I have
never experienced before. They also bring out the kid in me which is
kinda fun sometimes....
I am one of the founding members of Leukorrhea, a death metal
band based out of MA. We got together since 2000 and recorded a couple
full length cd's, some split cd's, been on various compilations, a
tribute CD to the band DEATH and have played countless shows as well as
a full US tour a couple years back. In October of 2007 my schedule has
gotten really busy and although the band is very important to me, I
felt it was time to move on. I accomplished alot being with this bad,
we did a bunch of really cool things together. I wish the guys the best
of luck as they continue forward and I'll be watching as a one of their
biggest fans.
I like surfing the net and checking out new stuff. Lately I've
become an avid player of Second Life. I am a graphic designer by trade
and currently work in a great up and coming design company called Pilotage Inc. I've been there a short time but thoroughly enjoy the work, it's what I had hoped to do for some time now.
I started studying Buddhism about 2 years ago. It felt like something
was missing from my life and for whatever reason, the middle path
opened for me. I am still a novice when it comes to the technical
aspects of the Buddha's teachings. But, the core of the teachings--
kindness, generosity and compassion are very simple to understand. The
key is putting them into play and sticking to them, that's where the
practice comes into play. And I could use plenty of practice. I
seriously lack a meditation schedule and could use some major help with
that, there aren't many (if any at all) teachers in my direct area.
Books help alot and so do videos, but I could really use a guide. I
hope and pray that one day one will appear. Until then though, I will
practice, practice and practice some more.
I've been trying to become active in volunteer situations when
I am able. Currently I am working on a re-designed website for a local
chapter of Habitat For Humanity. It's coming along great and the staff
is excited to finally be able to promote this new image. I also just
started getting involved in the Prison Dharma Network.
What am doing is writing letters to a prisoner who is very much in his
infancy of Buddhist practice, like myself. The PDN has offered to send
us both the same reading materials so we can discuss it via letter. So
far it's been fun and I look forward to staying in contact with the
person I have been.
I am just a guy trying to have some fun, help a few people and raise
some awareness on issues I think ought to be raised. Have fun while
you're here and feel free to leave comments and interact!
