About Me
i am a Liberal Christian who is a lesbian. i am open-minded person. i strive to be like Jesus who is gracious, merciful, lovable and compassionate. Jesus is #1 in my life. I love studying God's word. He has given me hope and peace. I put my faith in God's hands. Without faith I would not be here. I have had a few near death experiences which my faith in God has brought me through.
I was born with birth deffects. I am blind in my right eye and I am Hydrocephalic. Hydrocephalus is fluid on the brain. I also have a Dandy Walker Cyst in the brain which means I do not have a cerelbellum. I have 2 shunts to drain the fluid from my brain to my abdomen. The doctors, when they diagnose me did not know what quality of life I would have. They told my parents I might be in vegetate state and they said I would probably not walk. But now at age 35 I am walking. I had 15 shunt revisions. The last one at age 20 I was on the brink of death. I had a staph infection in the brain and peritenitus. God was not ready to take me home.
I lived a normal life as possible. I missed a lot of school days because of some of my shunt revisions were around school time. I graduated on time dispite of missing all those days. At age 15 I had a gran mal seizure so I have epilepsy. My last seizure was this past year in April. I don't drive because of my seizures and my sight. I was in band in high school and college marching bands. I did not let my disabilities hold me back, although it was difficult at times.
I graduated in high school in 1992 and I started college in 1994. I worked some during those years until i got the staph infection. I majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology. I had a few rough spots in college. I became severely depressed because by that time I knew I was a lesbian, but i was in deep denial. I also became an alcoholic. Tried solving my problems through a bottle instead putting my faith in God. I have been sober 4 years. I began having migraine headaches and had to drop out of college. I went back later and I graduated May 2001.
I am still to this day suffering migraines everyday. I have good days and bad days. I learn to take it one day at a time. I am on disability because of my chronic migraines among other disabilities.
I was diagnosed last December with type 2 Diabetes. I love sweets and I can tell you that it is much harder to give up sweets and foods that tastes good than alcohol and cigarettes because i had quit drinking and smoking and those 2 were hard enough.
GOD NEVER GIVES UP ON US! KEEP THE FAITH!
Being a lesbian and Christian is not easy. I knew in high school that I was gay, but because I was a Christian I denied my sexual orientation. I was brought up that being Christian you cannot be gay. I went through some hard times especially in college because I was in deep denial of who I was. I finally went to a Christian therapist who told me that I can be Christian and gay. Homosexuality like heterosexuality is not a sin but a unique gift from God. I was 29 then and now I am 35. The famous clobber verses that anti-gay people use against us is totally taken out of context. Sodom and Gommrah is about rape, idolatry, and violence. Men, who were heterosexuals, wer raping other men. In Leviticus they were talking about the strict Holiness Code which the Isrealites had to follow. If that code was put into effect today we all would commit abomination. No eating seafood, can't wear 2 different cloths, if children disobeyed, they will be put to death among other laws at that time. Romans 1:26-27 talks about women and men giving up natural sex for unnatural sex. Yes, they are but these are heterosexual men and women having sex with the same sex. It is natural for us gay folks to have sex with the same sex because God created us that way. There is 10% of the world population that is gay or lesbian. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 as well as 1 Timothy 1:9-10 they are referring to same-sex prostitution. In Jude verse 7 refers to angels having sex with men. That is not homosexuality but perverted. ALSO JESUS DOES NOT SAY ONE THING AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY.
There is even homosexuality in the Bible. David and Jonathan. In 1 Samuel 18 talks about David's and Jonathan's love for each other. In the book of Ruth, Ruth shows her love for Naomi by staying with her instead of going back to her own people.
i am 35 years old living in a house with my dog, Sheba. my hobbies are going to church, Bible study, reading, listening to music mainly Christian music and the oldies such as music from the 60's and 70's. i watch sports on t.v. i like to sing, dance, crafts, internet, and play with my dog. i also love being with my family and friends. i also like making new friends.
I have recently become a child sponsor through World Vision. I sponsor 1 girl,Alda Duka from Albania. Alda is 5 Alda lives in one of the poorest countries in Europe. It used to be controled by Communists but in 1990 it became a democracy. I wish everyone could sponsor at least one child. There are many children who live in poverty and are starving. It is just $30 a month per child. If you would like more information go to www.worldvision.org
i am passionate about human rights !
