About Me
I am married to one wife since June 5, 1976. As a result of our union (and God's delightful sense of humor) we are the parents of five (5) children: one daughter and four sons, plus a "kinda-sorta-son".
I have been a pastor in the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod since June, 1979; in May, 1994 I earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
My areas of professional interest are:
- Understanding congregations as complex organizational and emotional systems (ala M Bowen, Ed Friedman and Pete Steinke) -- the subject of my D.Min. Major Applied Project;
- The Ministry of Reconciliation;
- Guiding congregations toward recovery from clergy misconduct and other congregation debilitating trauma.
My personal interests are:
- My wife and children;
- Rock and fossil collecting;
- Golf -- I claim unilaterally to be the absolutely worst golfer with a couple of decades of playing time;
- My Finnish heritage;
- Travel.
Future hopes and dreams: that God would lead me into a new area of ministry which would enable me to use my gifts to serve the three-in-one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
