Being Catholic - January 12, 2008 - 09:43 AM
Hi! Thanks for inviting me as a Beliefnet friend. I just want you to know that I admire anyone who has five children and is still sane!:) I come from a large family as well (Catholic, of course!) and appreciate all the love, blood, sweat and tears it takes to raise children and still find time to think and be yourself and have a relationship with your husband. God bless you. Now, being Catholic is something that is very definitely a commitment. It is a lifestyle of sorts, for me, as well as a centering and grounding point in my life. I left the faith when I was in my twenties to explore many paths and practice my beliefs, which were basically Pagan and Wiccan before such names where given to Earth-based religions. I have been always fascinated with the Unknown and my great love of the natural world brought me there. I still feel that my spirituality is my love and appreciation of Nature (great photos, btw), and that my religiosity, as it were, is Catholicism. I love ritual and the sensuality of most rituals help me to focus on how I am feeling in the moment. The mass is beautiful to me, and my church has a very lovely musical program. All these things matter to me, and yes, I have a profound love and appreciation for Jesus and who he was and represents to me. Being a practicing Catholic just puts it all together and helps me to feel as if I belong somewhere. Another topic all together! Anyway, thanks for listening and enjoy this most beautiful day! Caitlin
