I am a mother of four grown children, a grandmother of one grandchild, and am currently single. My faith has carried me and continues to carry me on a daily basis, for health, prosperity, and abundance. My reasons for joining this community stems from my concerns about my oldest daughter, who is suffering from severe depression, difficulty with her husband's drug addiction, and personal self-esteem. Being a recovering co-dependent, I want to help her, but am concerned that I may not be doing it in the best way. Some of my previous self-destructive patterns are being repeated in her, and it is difficult for her to accept suggestions and advice from me for that reason. She is in counseling, has a support group, and has even been put on medication. She is resisting complete surrender to God, and realizes this will be her rest, even though she continues to struggle. Due to financial difficulties caused as a direct result of her husband's addiction, her family is facing bankruptcy, her husband already lost his job with the family business, spends most of his time in recovery, they are probably going to lose their home, her husband's truck, and possibly the ability to maintain my grandaughter's ability to be in Christian schooling. My daughter feels she is also an addict (alcohol), and is also in a 12 step program with a sponsor. She attends to church, but has not established roots with membership, nor associations to date. I don't want to commiserate with others on these topics, but rather share healthy, practical solutions, pray for one another, and "be an instrument for peace and healing (to the extent that I am being called to do so. Open to discussions, suggestions, and meaningful/thoughtful advice. I will do the same to the best of my abilities and God's will.
