About Me
My name is Debbie. I am 48 y.o.
I was adopted when I was 4 months old and raised Catholic by two parents who loved me and gave me a wonderful, beautiful life. I love them very much. My Mom passed away 21 years ago, but my Dad is still here, and I've grown to have a close relationship with him since then.
I did find my biological mother 14 years ago. She lives 1/2 hour away! We have a very close relationship. She's Catholic, and my biological father is Jewish. I do not know him.
I am divorced and have two beautiful children. My son is 18; he is mentally retarded with autistic behaviors, and my daughter is 17 and a half.
I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression 8 years ago, though suffered from it for much longer than that, and am on tri-therapy. (3 different anti-depressants). I still have occasional symptoms until recently, when in Septemper, 2007, I lost my job as a Medical Office Manager due to depression and have been unemployed since. My symptoms have gotten worse despite the medication. I have no health insurance. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I woke up one morning 2 months ago, only to find my left hand, from the wrist down couldn't move!! I called my doctor, and he said I had "Radial Nerve Palsy". It's from sleeping directly on my upper arm and I crushed the radial nerve. My wrist and fingers just hang, and I can't use it; except for my first finger, which I use to type with as long as I have my wrist splint on. So I haven't been applying for jobs, which made my depression even worse: I have been working very hard to have a closer relationship with God, read the Bible, and help others with (that makes me really happy and feel good).
However, my faith is unwaivering!! I say the Serenity Prayer often.
I'm not telling you all this for sympathy...we all have our problems to cope with, for sure. I try to live in the day and the moment and am grateful for the things I do have, which God has given me. I always try to see the funny side of things - laughing is so good for you!
I have never joined something like this. I'm looking for friends.
I recently came across this site and decided to join in the hopes of sharing experiences, and giving any help I can to others. I've joined the "Beyond Blue" Group, and looking for suggestions. Please feel free to connect to "give/get help"!! I'm looking forward to meeting people of all ages, races, faiths and beliefs. I'd like to meet you! Talk to me!!!
