Before joining Beliefnet, I was the national political correspondent at U.S. News & World Report. I'm also the author of the recent book The Jesus Machine, How James Dobson, Focus on the Family, and Evangelical America are Winning the Culture War and have written on politics and religion for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and USA Today.
