About Me
I have joined this site to discover so much more about myself and others through reading articles, profiles and looking for help and I hope I can offer advice, I have been in higher education for 22 plus years as an Administrator, I had to go on full disability just recently 4/23/08. This has changed my life in so many ways, from being in such a demanding position to being home. I hope to have more adventures in my life and find a way to do this with my medical conditions, I am always looking for new friends and I try to challenge myself and keep my mind active. I have had a lot to pray for, more so now than every before. My last day of work, I just sat at my desk for an hour and could not move my legs, my mind wondered in my office, how could I keep this up, it took me over an hour to call a dear friend down the hall and asked her to come into my office to discuss what was going on. Her gentle hand said, Joyce you have pushed yourself to far and your body and soul is telling you to take care of yourself, look how many people, students, staff, faculty and trustees that have leaned on you over the last 15 years. I could not move, my back was in severe pain, she massaged my legs, but nothing happened. It was time to call an ambulance, I knew at that point I would never return to do what I enjoyed the most, listening, talking and helping people, settling agreements (I'm a Gemini) and the experiences that I enjoyed the most in my life. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life at this point, I've reached the end of my medical treatment (my doctor wanted me on long term disability a year prior). So I'm looking for some help and tips on keeping my mind active and how to not only try to get through the long term disability part but stay active and helping other people. Any suggestions?
Family is so important, you just don't know until you loss one that is such a part of your life. My father, rest in peace, we (7children) use to always asked him, "Dad, what would you like for holidays, birthdays? His response was "peace" he use to take me outside and show me the space station up in the sky and say, if I'm ever not here, look for that station and say "hello", that is all I ever want." From this I learned what his soul was looking for, inner peace. To be so far, in a beautiful and quiet place, where I could always talk with him. We were a very fortunate loving family, my mother is heartbroken for her soulmate of 56 years. I will be moving from Massachusetts to Florida to be with her and we can both talk to my father together, and all that have departed.
My children have grown and in '99 my husband left and I raised my own kids putting them through college (this was my push to keep me at the college for as long as I could) to make sure they all had a good education. They all graduated and live a happy full life.
God be with everyone ~ look for your angels ~ they are everywhere.
