About Me
I grew up in a small town of 300 in central Texas. I left at 18 ready to experience the world and have never moved back...though I do go back to visit on a semi-regular basis. I crave new experiences, meeting people, love knowing that I'm only limited by my own fears, prejudices, and lack of knowledge (sounds much better than "ignorance").
I'm more deeply in love with my husband now that when we married 29 years ago and I'm constantly amazed with how much in love one can be with their own children. I'm fascinated and enamoured by them and they are on the top 10 list of people I admire the most. Between the three of them, they've expanded my horizons immeasurably. They've helped me sort through what's important in this life and what's flotsam. Our daughter is bi-polar. The journey with her through teens and early adulthood has taught me the importance of honesty, communication, and recognizing in a focussed way that all people approach life and travel on different paths - that different isn't good or bad or right or wrong, it's just *different*. And that's just fine. She's an unbelievably strong woman and I'm honored to be her mother.
I hope to meet here, people who want to further their understanding of fellow human beings. Those who understand the difference between making an observation, drawing certain conclusions from that, and being judgemental. I would like to have conversations with those who will try to explain their points of view knowing that I may not have the same tools and points of reference they have, but still want to know and understand. They may have to be patient with me. I can be slow and, unfortunately, as I get older, my synapses misfire sometimes. I had a very good time in the late 60's/early 70's.
My Basics
Location: Louisville, Kentucky, USA
Gender: Female
Occupation: sculptor
Relationship Status: Married
Faiths:
Taoist
Faith Description: I selected "Taoist" since its philosophies are those which have resonated within me. I wish to clarify, however, that it's only the philosophies to which I adhere, not necessarily the rituals of the religion. Organized religion and my spirit haven't come to terms and won't from where I sit now.
