Who I'm praying for:
From ACIM "Song of Prayer": Prayer is a stepping aside; a letting go, a quiet time of listening and loving. It should not be confused with supplication of any kind, because it is a way of remembering your holiness. Why should holiness entreat, being fully entitled to everything Love has to offer? And it is to Love you go in prayer. Prayer is an offering; a giving up of yourself to be at one with Love. There is nothing to ask because there is nothing left to want.
What is your current spiritual mood?:
Peaceful
What's your spiritual type?:
Undefinable - These labels (and most labels) don't work for me.
About Me
A Course in Miracles has been my guide on the spiritual path for almost 25 years now. One of my favorite passages from the Course is this: "Oneness is simply the idea God is. And in His Being, He encompasses all things. No mind holds anything but Him. We say 'God is,' and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless" (from A Course in Miracles Workbook for Students, Lesson 169).
I am a retired psychologist and now live in Cambria, California on the lovely central coast of the Pacific Ocean in what is called the "Gateway to the Big Sur." Robert Louis Stevenson referred to the Big Sur coast as: "The most beautiful meeting of land and sea on earth." I'm happy to have wound up here! This year (2008) I will turn 75 and have just published a book entitled: A Primer of Psychology According to A Course in Miracles
For many years now I've been Beliefnet Host for A Course in Miracles because I wanted the Course to be adequately and accurately represented here. In the early years there wasn't much interest in ACIM on Beliefnet, but since the evolution to a new Web format, and with the publication of The Disappearance of the Universe, there has been considerably more interest. However, I think that the Course is still ahead of its time. It's very radical non-dualistic teachings confront everything that we have come to believe about the nature of reality, of God and of ourselves. Although the Course uses traditional Christian language, it redefines traditional terminology and winds up being not an extension of Christianity but a replacement for it. For me it has offered satisfying answers to some basic questions, such as the problem of evil: "How could a loving God have made such a world as this and inhabited it with such murderous beings?" And the path of the Course has been a source of inner peace as I continue to learn the ways of forgiveness on a daily basis.
