About Me
Hi! I would basically describe myself as an independent or non-denominational Christian, who is also open to influences and truths from other religions. I love communicating with people who are spiritual and creative, whether Christians or of others faiths or of no specific faith.
I was Christened, as a baby, in the Church of England, but with no follow-up at the time. I didn't have the experience of going to church as a child, apart from briefly attending a Baptist/Evangelist Sunday school with a friend, which my mum put a stop to. My dad's side of the family have strong connections with The Quakers, and I am lately beginning to realise that, although not specifically raised as a Quaker, I seem to hold many values that are consistent with Liberal Quakerism. I am currently investigating this. I also relate strongly to Unitarian Universalism.
Since October 2007, my husband and I have attended services at both The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and The Church of England. My husband is now a member of the former, but this was not right for me, for various reasons. However, I do deeply value the friendships that I have made with the missionary sisters, and members of our local LDS church here in Basingstoke. I would like to dispel the myth that Mormons are not Christians. They definitely are Christians, in the truest sense of the meaning of "Christianity" as I understand it.
I do feel strongly that, although I am a Christian, I am attracted to aspects of other belief systems, and I need to explore this. All paths, if honest and true, lead to the same God. All religions contain truth and value. God gives us religion in a form that we, as individuals, can accept and embrace.
One of the most important aspects of my life is, and will remain, my wonderful collection of pet birds. I love each of them deeply, and they teach me so much.
I also love creative writing and digital photography.
