About Me
I was a Trappist monk from 1959 until 1965, and then a devout & practicing alcoholic from 1965 until 1989. Now that I'm in recovery, I'm a hardnosed existentialist, a practicing ex-Catholic and a devout iconoclast.
On Mondays I'm generally a Taoist, by Tuesday a Zen Buddhist toying with Eckhartian syntheses, always an acerbic Emersonian on Wednesday, perched high & mighty on my Thoreauvian pumpkin on Thursday, slipping into existential nihilism by Friday, chucking it all on Saturday and reveling in wanton hedonism once again, and on Sundays I rest from my labors in Jungian introspection. I know it sounds terribly complicated, but to me variety is the spice of life, and as long as I don't drink I'm always rarin' to start again.
Favorite quote, from Michael Polanyi: "Our mind lives in action, and any attempt to specify its presuppositions produces a set of axioms which can not tell us why we should accept them."
My Basics
Gender: Male
Occupation: Retired
Relationship Status: In a Relationship
Faith Description: Existentialist, 12-Stepper, Iconoclast.
