Thank you for explaining your screen name to me. Sorry I didn't see your comment until today. Dao is a Vietnamese last name which is also my mother's last name:). Tao means "I" in Vietnamese. My Vietnamese name means "white duck" and it was given to me by my paternal grandfather with the same meaning you had mentioned about "duck" and white means purity. So, that the reason got my attention with your screen name:). Thought we had some connection some how....but you don't look like any Asian to me either....hahahaha. Thank you and Happy new Year!!!! QT:)

Hi, qt, "DaoDuck" is my screen name from the Taoist forum I have spent a lot of time in (www.taoism.net). "Dao (Tao)" is the Mystery that lies behind, beyond, in and through Reality - Tao is "What is," that which actually always was, is and always will be. Tao is ultimate reality, "God" above "God," the One, the All, the whole of all of the parts, and the essence of Life. Of course, everything I just wrote is NOT Tao, because the eternal Tao can not be "named." "Duck" is my personal Spiritual symbol for the sage, the wise person or master. Ducks are at home in water (water is symbolic of living according to Taoist principles). Ducks are just who they are, nothing more, nothing less - no pretense. Ducks live in moderation and balance: swim some, fly some, waddle some, dunk some and quack some. Ducks are aware of the dualistic nature of life (water & land) and observe both from the higher perspective of the air. Ducks let the rain (adversity) roll off their backs and they remain peaceful and calm, even though paddling for dear life. Not only all of that, but also ducks are funny! For me, ducks are perfect examples of the "Way" of spirituality. So, "Dao" and "Duck" became my screen name for all spiritual discussions. Dao, the Essence and "Duck," the Manifestation combine to teach me the Way of the Sage: At home in Unity with the One (Spirit) as well as at home in relationship with the Many (Material). As the Christian Teacher may have put it: "Be IN the world, but not OF the world." That is the meaning of "DaoDuck" as I imagine it.
