Who Inspires Me:
St. Benedict and his Rule of St. Benedict.
Because of the power and effectiveness of his Rule for monks living in a community, St. Benedict is often called the father of Western monasticism, born at Nursia, Italy c. 480; died at the famous monastery he founded, Monte Cassino, Italy, 543 AD.
It has been said that other than the Bible, the Rule of St. Benedict has been the most important book for the development of Western civilization.

About Me
Peace and blessing to you. May God's love strengthen you.
FAITH:
I acknowledge as fact that the God of the Bible is God the Father Almighty; that Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son, our Lord, who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary; that He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and buried; that on the third day He rose from the dead; that He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead; and that the Holy Spirit; the holy Church; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting are also all factually true. God's free gift is eternal life.

Thank you - September 4, 2008 - 12:45 AM
Dear Barzillai, thank you for the info on your profile. I am a Catholic looking for where I might be useful and I had heard of lay people being part of monastic orders before but had no info beyond that. I really think it might be for me. I have some housing, family, and health issues to deal with while I look into this. Will be seeing you on the Our Father group. God bless. Mary Mike
