My Favorite Books, Authors, Musicians, Movies, Preachers, TV shows, etc:
TV? This is kind of embarrasing and out of character for me, but I sort of like those "entertainment"/celebrity shows (like on "E" network). No idea why, because there aren't any celebrities I actually like. Books? Maybe fiction by Southern writers (Carson McCullers, Truman Capote, etc.) and anything biographical about just about anyone. Musicians? Don't get me started on that. I'll be here all night. Movies? Not that into them. Preachers? I'm drawing a blank.

My parents and grandparents. People who are true to themselves and don't worry about conforming. People who realize their spirituality.

My favorite spiritual activities:
meditating, being out in nature, having "real" conversations.

Randy Pausch died today. - July 25, 2008 - 04:12 PM
I don't know if you have ever seen Randy Pausch's "Last Lecture" given at Carnegie-Mellon University. He is, or rather was, a pretty amazing man, and his last lecture is something worth the 73 minute run time. There are parts, it is true, that sound a little like "the power of positive thinking", however, when you peal back the surface he has something real to say, and in most regards it is worth hearing. What I hear is a passion for life and a love for people. What is not to like about that. And by the way he died of pancreatic cancer, one of the most horrible and painful forms of cancer. I know, because my aunt has it, and the mother of a very dear one with whom I live died of it. Randy is/was one impressive man, living a remarkable life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo
