More About Me
About Me
I am an old-fashioned Quaker who has lived a long time. When I was in my late teens I decided I wanted to make my life count, so for the next 45 years, in addition to raising two families, I devoted my life to helping others, through volunteer work, working through my Quaker Meeting, going out in neighborhoods to see and try to meet many of the concerns and needs I saw.
During the sixties, I was a forerunner in the civil rights actions, during the 70's and 80's It was gay rights. Have always been a peace activist, always for nonviolence, including being against the death penalty, war and abortion on demand. I realize there are times when abortion is necessary, but it should not be used as a birth control measure. I have volunteered in many capacities in prisons, working with inmates, their families, helping released inmates.
I have always advocated for humane treatment of animals. They have as much of a right to happiness as humans. I would not want to go to heaven if my beloved animals were not there with me.
During the 60's I was active in resettling refugees and found sponsors and helped resettle hundreds of new immigrants coming into this country.
As a Quaker, I believe in that of God in each person. I believe there are many paths to God and we must find our individual path which serves us best. I do not believe any one has the right to tell another person how and what they should believe. This is human pride, not God, working through us.
