I'm sadly observant of the lack of religious awareness and mutual consideration in the lives of so many of my family and friends. It's very different now from the 1950s when everyone I knew attended Church, participated in various religious activities, and related to each other in a positive manner. [They weren't boring prudes, as you might think, but active and interesting people with imagination and large families.] And I think my thoughts are mirrored by the similar lack of the religious and personal concepts in the today's general public. Too many people gather into the 'liberal' view of things, and they accept any and all personal activities and generally disdain any sense of faith or personal responsibility. As good as the 'It Takes a Village' concept sounds, personal responsibility and positive efforts still remain the paths of life. I hope to find more like-minded people in this forum than any other.

My father, for example, was an excellent role model for personal responsibility and self-effort in that he made his own way through the work force, had his firm beliefs, was active in the Church, giving of himself and his talents when possible, and he never used religion as an excuse for anything---yet he was a religious oriented part of society.

I'm a former Naval Officer, CPA, rare book store owner, and father of two sons.

I'm not a big fan of 'modern' [a temporary concept, to be sure] television or Hollywood movies. I'd rather watch the old 'modern' ones with less gore and sex. They permit a more active use of imagination.
