About Me
I swore I'd never do three things; teach high school, teach Special Education, and teach music. I do all three.
Many of the children I work with have a history of child abuse, which we share in common. I have found it allows me to have understanding for them that many others simply cannot. I grew up being told I was worthless, and I beleived it, and still do at times, but I am beginning to not beleive it more and more. Until I realized that I was bringing much of the pain of my life onto myself, I got absolutely nowhere (5 years of therapy and counting, folks. No one said it was easy!). Ultimately I learned that we do in fact get what we give.
I have heard that we are all being "looked out for" by Guardian Angels, but in my case it seems that they have taken a special interest in my life for reasons that are not at this point clear. This is detailed in the story published in the book When God Winks at You by SQuire Rushnell. I was on my way to commit suicide when a very profound incident occurred that stopped me. Now I know there is a God (I just don't feel comfortable thinking that I can name it).
I ascribe to many of the beleifs of Buddhists in regard to how we should treat each other, and I really like Wayne Deyer, and the film "What the Bleep Do We Know?" touches on many of the things I feel are true because it is spirituality and science mixed together. I do like what Jesus taught, which I see simply as, "Love One Another". His story also means more to me now that I have learned the value of unconditional love, forgiveness, sacrafice, and empathy.
This life thing is all temporary, and will rust and be eaten by moths. I love nothing more than committing random acts of anonymous, and sometimes not so anonymous, kindness. Making the person at the McDonald's drive thru smile at 6am is my favorite thing of all! It's like watching a beautiful sunrise through dark cloudy skies.
One of the biggest goals I have in my life right now is to meet my spiriit guide and speak to him or her or it, personally. I beleive that the world needs more love, tolerance, and understanding, and this line from a song I'm writing says a lot about the kinds of things I beleive I intuit from Spirit.
We live in a world/With 6 billion people/But the biggest question/We most want to know/Is if there's anyone out there listening to me?/Is anyone out there or are we alone?
I beleive we are not alone. We have each other. Until we all realize that, we, as a planet, or a species, or whatever, are going to get nowhere.
My Basics
Gender: Male
Occupation: Teacher
Relationship Status: Married
Faiths:
Rather not specify
Faith Description: I think that we all know what is right. I felt like garbage when I was a meanie. When I act in love towards others I feel my soul expand. When I was a negative creep people stayed away. You get what you give, and that's all I can say. We draw everything on to us by what we put out, and even by what we think about. Give love and treat someone with kindness for "no reason" and see what happens. I dare ya!
