In the letter to the church at Sardis, John was inspired to write these words that should cause us all to examine ourselves to see whether we are spiritually just going through the motions or if indeed we are actively being and doing what God has for us to do and be:

Revelation 3:1
And to the angel of the church of Sardis write:
These things says He who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars:   "I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive but you are dead."

Of course, this means that they were physically alive but spiritually dead. What about you?  Are you spiritually alive?
