What does your "one night stand" say about you?

    Thursday, March 3, 2011, 6:23 AM [General]

    Dear Tushkateers!

I recently had an opportunity to attend the WEIL on WELLNESS Immersion at Miraval Resort in Tucson.  It was glorious on so many levels.  The desert air, the cacti (I just love them - not to sit in them but to admire from afar :) ... the food was exquisite, the people, lovely - and the 'immersion' enlightening, or as I like to say 'en-LITE-ening!"

Sleep, as we know, plays a part in permanent fat removal (if you lose it, you may find it).    And our night-stands give us a good visual of 'how we sleep,' 'what we take from our day into the night that interfers with a good night's sleep ...

So ... please read on and then visit the Our Lady of Weight Loss blog  - my blog - our blog - that is chock a block with food for thought and fat-burning secrets.

Here follows ... and do weigh-in.  What do you take to 'sleep' with you and how is it not only impacting upon your sleep patterns, but your weight???

I'm referencing the one night-stand that sits next to your bed. The stand that you dump the contents of your day onto before you drift off to sleep. The stand that holds your eyeglasses, your meds, your alarm clock, the book(s) you are reading, maybe your laptop, your cell phone, your landline, a pad, a pen or two, your watch, your rings, a glass of water, a glass of wine, your peace pipe, your sex toys, sugary snacks, crunchy snacks, full meals, and maybe a statue of the Buddha. And let's not forget all our sleep paraphernalia, including eye masks, aromatherapy candles, sound machines, sleeping potions and sleeping pills.

What does your one night-stand say about you and about your quality of sleep?

An Invitation: One Day of Right Speech, No Judgment - Just LOVE.

    Monday, July 20, 2009, 10:35 AM [General]

    Hi All ~
This week's episode of Drop Dead Diva brought judgment to light. Specifically, how 'fat' people are spoken down to and treated  unfairly.  It inspired me to be kind (for at least 24 hours - smile:) ...

Please read and join with me as I practice "right speech."  May no words of judgment or gossip pass through these lips for (at least) 24 hours!

Drop Dead Diva: Judging Fat People
(click her for full blog post)

Judgment 101: The WHY of it.
Have you ever wondered why we are so fond of judging each other? We all do it. Don't we? We judge people every day by the way they look, dress, walk, talk, think, and how they act.

We are judging machines. What's it all about? Why do we partake in something so hurtful and low?

The Bible says, "Judge not, lest you be judged."

One of the moral disciplines of the Buddhist Eightfold Path is "Right Speech." Right Speech suggests that we do not "slander others or speak in a way that causes disharmony or enmity" nor should we "indulge in idle talk or gossip."

In Talmudic tradition, it is believed that the evil tongue, "Lashon ha-ra," is a weapon of destruction, one that spreads hatred, lies and most of all slander.

And yet we continue to judge.
Judgment stems from fear. It is a dysfunctional way of protecting ourselves. We project how we feel about ourselves onto others. We put them down so that we can feel superior and bring ourselves up.

    Food for thought.
How many times a day do you judge others or have negative thoughts about others? How many times a day do you look at someone and reject them because you don't like the way they look? Too fat? Too thin? Too ugly? Too pretty?

Join with Our Lady of Weight Loss's KICK IN THE TUSH CLUB and me, as we practice "Right Speech" for the next 24 hours.

    One day a time!

Motivation doesn't always come easy, particularly when it involves habits and addictions. (Yes, I do believe that food can be an addiction.) Some of us need a bit of a kick in the tush to kick-start our healthy living regimes.

Here follows a mental-cise (something for you to ponder, think about and even write out in your Kick in the Tush Club notebooks) that will help you to change your mind.

"You can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it."

Oprah's Book Club: Summer Reading 2009 - Our Lady of Weight Loss!

    Saturday, June 27, 2009, 7:27 AM [General]

It's official!!! Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal by blogger Janice Taylor is one of Oprah's picks for Summer Reading 2009.

Special thanks to Kick in the Tush Club member Adriana for forwarding me Oprah's newsletter that featured Our Lady of Weight Loss along side the rest of her summer picks.

I couldn't be more delighted, as you can well imagine. Our Lady of Weight Loss was and is a labor of love. I want to share my tips, tricks, recipes and my secrets to my own 50 pound weight loss with as many people as possible. I was heavy my entire life - a fat kid, weighing in at 112 pounds at 8 years-old - yo-yo'ing from that point forward.

Permanently removing 50 pounds (gone now for 8 years!) is a miracle! Here's what Oprah had to say about Our Lady of Weight Loss...

"It takes a kooky kind of genius to turn weight loss into an art project, and Taylor's soaking in it. Six years ago, she began to turn food into collages and dioramas. She shed 50 pounds in the process and has kept it off. See if her idiosyncratic diet plan will work for you." ~ Oprah's Book Club, Summer Reading 2009

... If you haven't picked up your copy yet, do so!!! You will love it.

And be sure to read Our Lady of Weight Loss's BELIEFNET Blog!  Motivation and inspiration only one click away!!!

Platterfuls of gratitude for your support!
