Hi! I write a daily blog "Dr. Norris Chumley Satisfied Life" (www.beliefnet.com/drnorris and an e-newsletter on Beliefnet.com called "Weight Loss with Norris." I believe that overweight and obesity are not so much about food, or exercise, but more about feeding a deep emotional and spiritual hunger. If one fully, joyfully lives life in an active and interactive way, then weight becomes less of a problem. Yes, I need structure and boundaries in what and how much I eat, and I need to be physically active on a daily basis. I also have worked very diligently on solving the mystery of why I got so fat and was self-abusing myself. I am still in the process! I'm not perfect, but I have managed to lose 150 pounds and keep if off going on 17 years, by the grace of God.

In addition to writing for Beliefnet, I've also written a book, The Joy of Weight Loss: a Spiritual Guide to Easy Fitness and several videos, Spiritual Guide to Weight Loss (with Susan Sarandon), 30 Days to Spiritual Wellbeing, and Joy of Weight Loss. I have been leading workshops and retreats for many years, at Kripalu (3 times a year; www.Kripalu.org) and occasionally at Riverside Church in New York City and various other churches and clinics.
