Hi- Thank you so much for considering my post and your thoughtful comments. True, much in the Old Testament seems difficult to apply to modern understandings of Christianity to many, and seems passe to many others.
I study and follow the Old Testament for several reasons. First- I believe it to be the inspired teachings of our Heavenly Father. Jesus taught from the Old Testament as He attended synagogue and parlayed with the religious leaders of His day who had 'erred in the Scriptures'. Jesus told them regarding the Scriptures, that it was they (the Tanach) that spoke of Him. The earliest followers of the way 'searched the Scriptures' much before the New Testament came to be, and the earliest church (ecclesia, assemblies, congregations, whatever) taught the Scriptures and discussed them.
I appreciate all who study and strive to follow the Way of Christ.
Love ya', Steve
