This is not what makes one a JW. I was raised that way too. However...I made it "my own" as an adult. Unless you "make it your own"(being Baptized, and applying what you learn), it is not likely to make you a "JW".

Hey Matt I read you are confused about going back to the WT, I know how you feel so I thought I would share what helped me. In the beginning I was confused and disappointed in the Church but what helped me was to read the book by Ron Roads called reasoning from the scriptures with Jehovah's witnessed. How it helped? It gave counter arguments to the JW's teachings it also gave me a direction of study. You can accept or reject his belief but I believe God will guide you and once you know the Truth, the truth will set you FREE!
