Further to your query about ants. A friend of mine stirs corn meal into the ant hills in her yard and then when the ants eat it they swell up and die from the expansion of the coarse yellow corn meal I have not tried this myself but she swears by it, and it would be a non toxic solution to the ant problem. I am reluctant to use any actual toxins in my yard. Do this during a period of dry weather so the corn meal does not expand from moisture before the ants eat it.
