My personal belief is that it is arrogant of us as humans to think we know the answer to everything, and that there are some questions that have no definitive answer at least, not at this moment in time, like where we came from, where we will go, and how exactly the universe came about. While I think everyone should be allowed to believe what they want, I am avidly against it being foisted on others, within politics and government particularly, and therefore am an activist for separation of church and state. I am also strongly in favor of, and actively seek to remove the stigma that atheists are immoral and untrustworthy, which is, according to the Pew Research Center for Public Inquiry what over 61% of what Americans believe.
Ethical Culture is a humanistic and educational movement inspired by the ideal that the supreme aim of human life is working to create a more humane society. Our focus is on how we live our lives.
Our faith is in the capacity and responsibility of human beings to act in their personal relationships and in the larger community to help create a better world.
Our commitment is to the worth and dignity of the individual, and to treating each human being so as to bring out the best in him or her.
Members join together in ethical societies to assist each other in developing ethical ideas and ideals . . . to celebrate life's joys and support each other through life's crises . . . to work together to improve our world and the world of our children.
