A story in the holy Bible is the story about Zaccheus a rich chief tax collector( Luke 19). Imagine a short stubby man sitting at his fancy wooden desk marking off the names of the payees who's paid their taxes, and the payee's who haven't. Even so, he probably opens his safe wide eyed looking at his tower of coins he earned from taxes. Coincidently, he must've worked long hours into the night to account for every person due. Moreover, he probably heard Christians speaking about the Lord in the market where he shopped, and witness them praising the Lord in the streets and in front of his office. Impressive enough he was a good hearted man who's faithful to his work, and heard about Jesus deeds. However, I can't help but think someone had to be praying for Zaccheus salvation. For this reason, one day he heard Jesus was passing by his way and he had to see for himself( Luke 19: 4). Although he was a stubby man, he couldn't see over the vast crowd, so he climb a sycamore tree to see over the crowd. And there in the midst of the crowd is Jesus standing underneath the sycamore tree. Then Christ calls him down and guess what? He hurriedly climbs down and offers Jesus as his guess at his house for dinner and a one on one lesson about him. The crowds curiosity looked down on Jesus because he befriended Zaccheus a sinner but also a Jew as them. What's amazing about the Lord, he came to seek and save that which was lost ( Luke 19: 8) And it was Zaccheus time to know the Lord. After coming to the Lord, he gave back half of what he owned to the poor, and gave the people four times what he'd taken if he cheated them ( Luke 19: 10). Kindness is a wonderful character to behold but it cannot save your soul. Life is more than money. Climb and seek Salvation.
