Do you dream? Do you remember your dreams? So many people don't remember them leading them to believe they don't dream and the people who do remember them don't understand them so they just ignore them or suffer with them. But everyone does dream and everyone can remember them and understand them. It takes effort but it can be achieved. It's important that we work to understand what our dreams mean. They are messages, direct communication from your spirit, from "the other side." Messages that are meant to help you understand your actions and other peoples actions and how these actions are helping you or hindering you. Another tool just like Astrology.
As a society many have been brought up to believe dreams are just....dreams. We regard dreams as just images that are created by our mind when we sleep. But they are more than that. They are communications and we need to understand what the person on the other end is trying to say to us! Ever see the Star Trek episode where Captain Picard is stuck on a planet with an Alien that speaks in metaphor? They are suppose to be working together to defeat a creature that wants to kill them but his Alien friend speaks in a different manner. It's English but it's in metaphor. Eventually Picard gets the gist of his language and he accomplishes the mission. Every time I see that episode all I can think of is my dreams, they are just like that. I have this other person speaking in metaphor to me trying desperately to communicate information to me that is vital for my survival with me desperately trying to figure out what the other is trying to tell me. Just like the Captain trying desperately to figure out what his companion is trying to tell him. In the end the Picard figured out the Aliens metaphorical language and was able to communicate. Just as I have started to figured out what all them seemingly random images mean. I have begun to communicate, I have begun correspondence.
I know it can be so frustrating because dreams can be scary, silly, perverse, and just plain make you want to say "what the......" but you can achieve the "ah ha" state with your dreams. Can I interpret them for you?
No.
Why?
Because everyone is different. What a snake means for me in a dream may mean something else in yours. I can give you direction, I can give you ideas but ultimately you have to be the one to do the interpretation because it is your life and your issues. And what fun is it to have someone else to all the work for you? If you stick with it, even though it may seem frustrating in the beginning, you will eventually get much gratification from understanding your dreams.
Here some good places to start to help you begin. Start a dream journal! If you have a real hard time remembering dreams try telling yourself before you go to bed to remember the dream when you wake up. When you do wake up write down everything you can remember even if it is only one simple little detail. Write it down!! Eventually you will remember more and more! Read Robert Moss's books on dreams. He is invaluable when it comes to understand what dreams are all about. He's amazing and he has a blog here on beliefnet. If you do use a dream interpretation book the only one I recommend is Mary Summer Rains dream book "20,000 Dreams" but be careful of relying solely on a dream book because they use very general terms and because of that, things may not interpret right. Use the book to understand the base of the meaning of the dream symbol and then look at events that are currently happening in your life and see if there is a connection. There usually is. Sometime it will not seem that way but think on it for a while and it will eventually show it's self. One dream I had, It took three months of contemplation before I finally got it. And I am still not positive I am right. But there are other dreams I understood right away. It takes time and knowledge. Knowledge about spiritual truths our spiritual heritage. That's also vitally important. I have been reading Emanuel Swedenborg's Heaven and Hell and Divine Providence. Tough reads, hard to understand BUT it's helped! I had a dream about my son the other night that I would not have understood if it wasn't for Sweedenborg's writings on Spiritual truths. Most of all believe in your dreams! Believe that they are more than just mind babble they are actual communication from other intelligences besides your physical body.
My last piece of advice is hang in there, don't give up! It is well worth it. Read Read Read! And I am always here if you would like to ask me question about my experiences with my dreams.
